Four-Year High School Course Plan

四年制高中课程规划(9–12 年级)

A 26-credit, college-preparatory diploma program for Grades 9–12, built to mirror the Texas Foundation High School Program with an endorsement and the Distinguished Level of Achievement.

Our Approach

As a private school, Jefferson Honor Academy is not bound by the graduation rules the Texas Education Agency (TEA) sets for public schools. We have chosen to mirror them (19 Texas Administrative Code §§74.11–74.13) so that colleges and universities can read a JHA transcript against a familiar, published state standard. Courses follow the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and, for AP courses, the College Board course frameworks.

本校为私立学校,不受德州教育局公立学校毕业规定约束,但选择参照德州“基础高中课程 + 专业方向认证 + 优异成就等级”标准设计课程,以便各大学依据公开通行的州标准审阅本校成绩单。

This plan mirrors TEA requirements. It does not represent TEA approval, accreditation, or endorsement of Jefferson Honor Academy. Requirements were checked against TEA sources in October 2026, including the 2026 personal financial literacy update (HB 27).

FHSP = Foundation High School Program. DLA = Distinguished Level of Achievement, which requires four credits each of mathematics (including Algebra II) and science plus an endorsement. Texas sets no speech credit amount; it requires demonstrated communication proficiency (§74.11(a)(3)), which JHA meets with a 0.5-credit course. For students entering Grade 9 in 2026–27 or later, Texas requires 0.5 credit of Personal Financial Literacy.

Year-by-Year Schedule

Total credits 总学分: 28  ·  Meets the Distinguished Level of Achievement and STEM endorsement

The Honors/AP track assumes Algebra I was earned for high school credit in Grade 8; students without it take Algebra I in Grade 9. In Grade 12, students choose AP Calculus AB or BC and AP Biology or AP Chemistry. AP course titles are subject to College Board AP Course Audit authorization.

Recommended Endorsement

推荐专业方向:STEM(备选:跨学科研究)

STEM (recommended)

Algebra II, Chemistry, and Physics, plus one more math course with Algebra II as a prerequisite and one more science course (§74.13(f)(6)(D)). Both tracks meet it, and it fits our emphasis on computer science and AI.

Multidisciplinary Studies

For students with broad interests: four credits in each of English, mathematics, science, and social studies, including Chemistry and/or Physics and English IV, or four credits of AP or dual credit coursework.

Arts & Humanities

Honors/AP students who complete four levels of Spanish or Chinese (Levels I–III and AP) also meet this endorsement.

Dual Credit, AP, and English Support

双学分、AP 课程与国际学生英语支持

Dual Credit

We accept and recognize college credit earned at any accredited college or university. The Academy has no formal dual credit partnerships. A 3-semester-hour college course earns 0.5 high school credit; courses are approved in advance by the counselor and weighted like AP.

Advanced Placement

AP courses follow the College Board Course and Exam Description. Students are encouraged to sit the May AP Exams at a participating school or test center; the Academy helps families arrange this.

ESL & TOEFL Support

International students receive an English placement review. Beginning and intermediate English learners may take English I and II for Speakers of Other Languages. Weekly ESL tutoring and a TOEFL iBT preparation seminar are offered as non-credit support.
